CONTACT AND TEAM

Gorgoneion is rooted in lived polar experience. The project was shaped in close dialogue with Nighat Firoze Durrani Amin and Alain Hubert, whose decades of work in Antarctica informed both its philosophy and its technical direction.

Alain Hubert, co-founder of the Princess Elisabeth Antarctica (PEA) research station, has spent much of his life exploring and building in extreme environments, where functionality, resilience, and precision are not optional but essential. Alongside him, Nighat Firoze Durrani Amin has been deeply involved in the development of international polar initiatives, contributing to scientific, logistical, and institutional frameworks that support research on the continent.

Their combined perspectives, one grounded in expedition leadership and polar infrastructure, the other in scientific collaboration and global coordination, offered Gorgoneion a rare foundation: real knowledge of what women actually face in the field.

Their insights helped shape the garments not as conceptual objects, but as practical tools designed to respond to the realities of extreme conditions, long expeditions, and the often overlooked physiological needs of women working in polar environments.

Gorgoneion exists because experience met observation, and because those who know Antarctica best helped imagine how it could become more inclusive for those who will explore it next.
